Nearby Towns
Hexham is the biggest nearby town, with its picturesque parks, stunning architecture such as the Abbey, and England’s first purpose built prison, Hexham Old Gaol which can be traced back to the 1300’s. It also features supermarkets, outdoor shops, a swimming pool and a plethora of bars, cafes and restaurants. Corbridge is a little smaller and a little further Eastwards, but is equally pretty and has a number of artisan shops, bakeries, cafes and pubs. Haltwhistle is the nearest town and has cafes, (we love the Yellow Bird cafe) supermarkets Sainsburys and Coop, pubs, and a lido open April to Sept.

Fine Dining Michelin star
We are blessed with 3 nearby Michelin starred restaurants all within driving distance, such as Hjem (Geordie for home) in nearby Wall, which offers Scandinavian precision with its open kitchen and ambitious tasting and wine pairing menu, Pine, a converted cow barn in East Wallhouses offering ingredients foraged from the Northumbrian countryside or grown in their own gardens and Farlam Hall’s Cedar Tree restaurant offering dining with ceiling height windows overlooking Farlam Hall’s opulent gardens and ornamental lake.

The Red Lion in nearby Fourstones offers a high quality locally sourced seasonal menu, all freshly made with excellent veggie choices. The Milecastle 5 mins drive down the road with outside seating offering spectacular views during summer months and a cosy traditional interior for the winter. Small and family run, the food is consistently high quality and has good ales and 0%s.
